OUR VISION

God is drawing us to love and serve those around us…to be more like Jesus. God’s Holy Spirit guides us as we seek to follow His commandment: “Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind; and, Love your neighbor as yourself.” (Luke 10:27 NIV)

We, as a church who loves the Lord our God, exist to serve others with loving hearts and willing hands…”Connecting our Community to Christ.”

OUR STORY

We’ve been here since 1928. First Church of the Nazarene started with a prayer meeting under a tent in downtown Lafayette. It began with just a few locals who were inspired that their lives could be remade to look like Jesus’ life this side of heaven. Those first tent meetings were full of anticipation for what God might do.

Much has changed since 1928. Our church has gathered in several different locations; we’ve grown and expanded our ministry opportunities; God has called different pastors to serve our congregation during different seasons.

In 2023, we changed our church name to Lafayette Community Church of the Nazarene as we moved to another location.

The most important thing has stayed the same: our church’s absolute certainty that God wants us to “Connect our Community to Christ.”
