OUR VISION

We know where this whole thing is headed. We've read the end of the book. In the end, one day God will make all things new.

Through Jesus' death and resurrection, God is making all things new. Even us. Especially us. As we say "yes," God remakes our lives and invites us to join Him as He remakes all things. 

Simply put: We exist as a church to encourage ordinary people to become transformed into passionate followers of Jesus Christ.

OUR STORY

We’ve been here since 1928. First Church of the Nazarene started with a prayer meeting under a tent in downtown Lafayette. It began with just a few locals who were inspired that their lives could be remade to look like Jesus’ life this side of heaven. Those first tent meetings were full of anticipation for what God might do.

Much has changed since 1928. Our church has gathered in several different locations; we’ve grown and expanded our ministry opportunities; God has called different pastors to serve our congregation during different seasons.

In 2023, we changed our church name to Lafayette Community Church of the Nazarene as we moved to another location.

The most important thing has stayed the same: our church’s absolute certainty that God can remake people into passionate followers of Jesus Christ.
