This Week In Kids Worship – May 13th

Posted by Heather on May 13, 2012  |   No Comments »

This week, we’re discovering:
In our Bible story that our words matter (Ephesians 4:29). What are you doing to encourage others with your words? We’ll focus on the part of the verse that talks about “building others up according to their needs.”
We can become trusted people in the way that we talk to people in addition to using the stuff God gives us to be responsible.

Our Bottom Line is: I can be trusted when I choose the right words. God is responsible and our responsibility is a reflection of God. When we show responsibility, we are building trust with people. This week we celebrate Mother’s Day, so we’ll also emphasize thanking the women in our lives who encourage and love us.

Our Basic Truth is:
I should treat others the way I want to be treated.

Showing responsibility with the small things will help others see we can be trusted with big things. One of the best things we can do for our relationships is to choose our words carefully. Then our relationships get stronger and we have even more opportunities to be responsible.

Like our Memory Verse says, “Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much.” Luke 16:10, NIV

This Week In Kids Worship – May 6th

This week, we’re discovering:
Our Bible story is the Parable of the Talents (Matthew 25:14-30). This is key for the whole month because it talks about being responsible with our stuff—both our money and our gifting. Everyone’s been given something, so what should you do to best invest it? We’ll see how the worst thing is to sit on it or just save it for later.

Our Bottom Line is: I can be trusted when I make the most of what God has given to me. When we bury our stuff, we seem to be afraid. People waste their lives and what they’ve been given when they don’t trust God enough to let Him work through them with the abilities He gave them in the first place. When we are responsible, we can become trusted people.

It’s important to remember this week’s Basic Truth: I can trust God no matter what, as we talk about responsibility. It’s true that everything we have has been given to us by God. When we respond to God with what He has given us, then we are responsible.

It’s like our Memory Verse says, “Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much.” Luke 16:10, NIV

Treat The Street Recap

Posted by Heather on November 9, 2010  |   No Comments »

When we first began to talk about the concept of Treat the Street, we knew that we were being challenged to serve our neighborhoods relationally but it was hard to explain exactly what we had in mind and even more difficult to come up with the words to communicate exactly how we wanted the night to feel. But, the wonder of being part of a community of Jesus followers was that we did not have to. In fact, it was better that we couldn’t.

Treat the Street was not about our words or specific guidelines or following a script. It was neighbors loving neighbors with the love of Jesus.

Really, it was not even an event. It was passionate Jesus followers doing what passionate Jesus followers do. As I drove around to the various locations, I was blown away by how invested each person was. It was more than just passing out candy and more than just being there. It was genuine. It was magical. It was most definitely a Jesus thing.

By the end of Halloween night, we treated well over 1,200 kids and their families. That would not have been possible without so many peoples help. Thank you to everyone that donated candy. You all more than filled the basket, you overflowed it twice!

Also, a huge thank you also to the people who hosted and to those who hung out at each house. I have never been so humbled and so in love with LFCN as I was that night.

Wonder.Discovery.Passion

Posted by Troy Hochstetler on August 24, 2010  |   No Comments »

I am so excited to share with you what we have planned for your kids for this fall. There are lots of changes coming that I hope will excite both you and your kids as much as it does me. The last few months have been a time to evaluate, plan and dream about what God would have the Children’s Ministry here at LFCN to look like. Our mission is that every kid that comes through our doors would experience the WONDER of God, DISCOVER what is means to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and that they would begin to see themselves in light of who God created them to be and live that out with a PASSION for loving God and loving others.

Wonder. Discovery. Passion.

These three words are at the core of our Children’s Ministry and the driving force behind the changes that are coming. From our youngest infants in the nursery to our preteens, our mission is to infuse the elements of wonder, discovery and passion to help them see God for who He is and to see themselves in the way God sees them so they can love others the way God does.

All of that leads up to a new name for our Children’s Ministry……(imagine a drum roll)

iNFUSE

iNFUSE is about more than a new name. It is about a new strategy, one that aims to team up with you. It is simple. You want your kids to grow up and love Jesus. We want the same. Together, we have a better chance of accomplishing that.

There are lots of exciting new changes that we have for iNFUSE this fall, starting September 6th. Here are the highlights:

Sunday School

We will be using a new Sunday school curriculum, D6. Your kids are going to love the new look and feel of this material. We believe that the message never changes, but the way that we tell it can. It can be fun and cool and giddy and awesome and reverent and engaging all at the same time. D6 has all of those components. Your kids will be getting a quarterly take home devotional magazine that will connect what they are learning on Sunday mornings with you at home. You will know every week what your kids learned about in Sunday school. How many times have you asked your kids what they learned about in Sunday school and them given you a blank stare? Well, now you will know. The new classes will be broken up as follows:

  • Ages 3 (and potty trained) through Kindergarten
  • 1st-3rd Grade
  • 4th-6th Grade

Kids Worship

The first Sunday of the month, elementary kids will stay in adult worship until dismissed after the offering to join Kids Worship for Missions teaching while Pre-K kids will stay in the preschool room as usual. For the rest of the month, Kids Worship will change to being the whole hour.

You will pick your kids up from Sunday school and bring them upstairs for kids worship before the start of the adult worship service. Please make sure that your kids have used the restroom and gotten drinks before they come up. There is an all-new curriculum that focuses on one element for an entire month in order to drive home the point. An exiting part of the new curriculum is weekly podcasts for parents to further connect what your kids learned at church to home. We have a goal of working closely with the 4th-6th graders to make sure that they are being taught in a way that is best for them. Look for more information to come about some special opportunities for them.

Discovery Zone Wednesday Nights

Your kids are not going to want to miss out on what we are doing on Wednesday Nights. Our Pre-K and Kindergarten will be joining our Benson Buddies program. This is a super fun, experience rich program that takes our kids on a journey to explore what it looks like to follow Jesus. Our 1st -6th graders will be joining me to go on a really cool new series. This is a media rich format that I think the kids will love. The first series is called Zap Pack and we will follow the life of a preteen boy named Zack whose world turns upside down when his family moves and he gets zapped into his school backpack. His life and attitude are transformed as he learns stories of children from the Bible who were truly “livin’it”. Our fall Discovery Zone will take place from September 8th through November 17th from 6:30-8:00 pm. In addition, there will be nursery available for kids under 3.

We look so forward to the chance to laugh and learn with your kids. I know that I just threw a ton of information at you, if you have questions please call or email me. I would love to talk to you more. I would cherish your input and the whole iNFUSE team would covet your prayers as we kick off fall and watch the amazing things that I know God has planned for our kids.

In Him,

Heather Patterson
